California fee on the Centrios Padlock

Dear Valued Partner,

We are writing to inform you of an important regulatory requirement that impacts the sale of the Centrios Padlock into the state of California.

California SB 1215 is a law that expands the state’s electronic waste recycling program to

include products with non-removable batteries. Outside of Centrios’ control, the law imposes a mandatory recycling fee that must be collected by the final seller. Under California SB 1215, the Centrios Padlock is classified as Covered Battery-Embedded (CBE)

products due to their non-removable lithium-ion batteries.

What This Means for You:

For products sold to end users in California, the seller is identified as the final seller and is

responsible for fulfilling the state’s recycling fee requirements.

According to California SB 1215:

• A Covered Battery-Embedded (CBE) recycling fee must be collected from the end user at the

time of final sale.

• The fee is 1.5% of the final sale price, capped at $15 per unit.

• Final sellers may retain 3% of the collected fee to offset administrative costs.

This requirement from California applies to the Centrios Padlock (CEP200-626)
